Description
The Cornus alba 'Sibirica' stands out mainly because of the straight, red branches that can be seen in the winter. The flowering period falls in May and June. White-yellow flowers appear during those months. After flowering a beautiful autumn color develops, whereby the leaves also turn red. White berries also develop after flowering. The shrub prefers a sunny spot, but can also be used in the shade and in humid locations. Very hardy and growing fast. The bushes can also be used to form a loose hedge. There are two ways to prune the bush. If you want beautiful red branches in the winter, prune it back briefly in the spring (approx. 10 cm). If you prefer to have more flowers and berries, use a rejuvenation pruning. In that case, prune approximately 1/3 of the branches completely back. The remaining branches will carry more flowers and berries.
