Description
If you want a border that really stands out, red and violet is a fantastic color combination. I chose these two colors for my own border. Large groups of dark red knotweed form the basis. This strong perennial plant blooms from July to October. I have grouped plants with (purple) violet flowers around it. The tall Verbena blooms for a very long time, but does not always survive the winter well. The bright red flowers of Crocosmia (a root vegetable) provide a spicy accent. All kinds of things bloom in my border from April to October. In the spring a mixture of tulips, from May the purple ornamental onions bloom between the perennials. The ornamental onion Allium aflatunense 'Purple Sensation' is recommended. For autumn you can add the monkshood Aconitum carmichaelii and the purple Vernonia crinita. The planting is suitable for full sun or partial shade.
