The Cercidiphyllum japonicum is a double-headed tree (both male and female reproductive organs). The male forms a bundle of stamens and the female forms a bunch of rose flowers. After the flowering period, fruits appear that often stay in place until the winter. The leaves initially appear purplish, but a discoloration occurs in the autumn, turning the leaves yellow to ruby red. The tree grows fairly quickly. Initially quite ascending, later more broadly. A perk of this tree is that the leaf either produces a sweet-sour smell when it leaves or after it has fallen off. Sometimes even in both cases. Given the size only suitable for somewhat larger gardens.
